There are very few places on earth which are considered as paradise and Seychelles is one amongst them. The beautiful group of islands is surrounded by deep blue water, and beaches with white sand are a part of the exotic life over here. It is one of the favorite honeymoon destination of the world.
Seychelles is a country with a group of 115 islands and these are situated in the west of Indian ocean towards East of Africa. Seychelles has the minimum population amongst the independent countries of Africa. It won’t be wrong to cite it as a “heaven on earth”.
The amazing thing about Seychelles is its capital, Victoria. It is the smallest capital city in the world and even if you are on foot, it doesn’t take a day to explore it completely. Another amazing thing is the sea coconut found here. Also known as Coco de mer is famous for producing largest and heaviest (around 15 kg) seed in world.
People are attracted to this place to witness the beauty of nature and watch some of the rarest species of birds and animals. The islands here are famous for being a home to Syer or bare-legged Scops Owl. This specie of owl was once thought to be extinct but in 1959, it was rediscovered here. If you are visiting Seychelles, watch them at Mahé Island’s Morne Seychellois National Park. Another important attraction is the Esmeralda at Bird Island. Esmeralda is the heaviest and unique living land tortoise, and weighs around 670 pounds.
The beauty of these islands attracts many celebrities all through the year. The biggest celebrities who have enjoyed their vacation over here include Prince William and Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton. Both of them were here to spend their honeymoon at the stunning North Island of Seychelles. The same spot was earlier chosen by David Beckham and his wife Victoria Beckham.
In earlier times, these islands especially Côte d’Or on Praslin and Pirate’s Cove (Anse Forbans) on Mahé Island were the lands of pirates. These islands were used by pirates as a hideout and people over here still believe that Olivier Levasseur, a pirate of that time hid a treasure whose worth is greater than $160,000. It is said that this treasure has not been discovered till date.
